Say his name.
After co-creating Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad spin-off focusing on the life of lawyer Saul Goodman, whose fourth season ended a few months ago, Vince Gilligan continues to expand his universe. This week, we learned that a Breaking Bad movie was in the works. Baptized Greenbrier, it will follow "the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom". A pitch which is reminiscent of the situation we left Jesse Pinkman in at the end of the last season. Held in slavery by a group of supremacist criminals, the young man was eventually freed by Walter White just as he was about to give up on survival. Walter White took his last breath after this final epic action. According to SlashFilm, the feature film – whose format could be a cinema release or a TV film on AMC – will be a sequel focusing on the much-loved character played by Aaron Paul.
It remains to be seen whether we'll see the other half of this infernal duo, Walter White. It seems pretty likely that we will. On The Dan Patrick Show, actor Bryan Cranston explained that he had already discussed the film project with Vince Gilligan, who looks set to work as screenwriter, producer and director on the movie.
"There will be a movie version of Breaking Bad, but honestly, I haven't even read the script yet. I don't know if Walter White will be in it."
OK, but what if Vince Gilligan called the actor to ask him to put his famous hat back on? "If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, sure, absolutely. He's a genius. It's a great story, and there's a lot of people who felt that they wanted to see some sort of completion to some of these storylines that were left open. This idea, from what I was told, gets into at least a couple of the characters who were not completed as far as their journey."
If the movie does focus on post-Breaking Bad, the only way we'd get to see our favorite anti-hero again would be through flashbacks, or, who knows, if Jesse has visions of his replacement dad after being traumatized by his experiences. In any case, we'll be there to see it. Wait and see, bitches.
